Kids Helping Kids
Connecticut Children’s is very fortunate to have the support and generosity of many children who want to make a difference in another child’s life. Children of all ages hold parties for their birthdays, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Confirmations and First Communions for the benefit of Connecticut Children’s. At these events, instead of presents for the honoree, guests are invited to make a monetary donation or in-kind gift such as a new toy or book that is then given to the Medical Center.
We have been privileged to work with many schools on a variety of fundraising projects. Young children have collected new toys or books to share with our patients. Others, with the guidance of school administration, have held walk-a-thons, dance-a-thons and bowl-a-thons where pledges are collected from family and friends in support of their participation. Numerous youth groups such as Scouts, athletic teams and civic clubs conduct car washes, tag sales and lemonade stands in their communities to benefit Connecticut Children’s.
