From Behind the Scenes to Center Stage: Will Lee Keeps Pediatric Care on Track

In the realm of Supply Chain, there’s no such thing as a typical day. Each day presents unique challenges and opportunities to drive continuous improvement and make a meaningful impact on the delivery of pediatric healthcare services. From analyzing inventory data and evaluating procurement needs to collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the seamless flow of essential supplies and equipment throughout the hospital, I work closely with my team to develop and implement strategies to optimize processes and maximize cost-effectiveness while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient care.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining the hospital’s operations was a challenging endeavor, to say the least. One of the most memorable instances involved orchestrating an emergency procurement effort for crucial medical supplies that were in dire shortage. This entailed navigating unprecedented logistical hurdles, collaborating with suppliers globally and sometimes even resorting to unconventional channels to secure essential items. It was an intense period requiring swift decision-making and innovative problem-solving but, ultimately, it reinforced the importance of resilience and adaptability in the face of crisis.

Our Clinical Value Analysis process is a rigorous assessment of each product’s clinical efficacy, safety profile and alignment with evidence-based practices. Our multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, supply chain specialists and other stakeholders reviews relevant data, conducts trials when necessary and solicits feedback from frontline staff. We consider regulatory compliance, manufacturer reputation and potential impact on patient outcomes. This evaluation framework allows us to select products that meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
